Red Bull’s Max Verstappen held off the charging McLaren of Lando Norris to win the 2024 Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, with Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc claiming the third and final podium position.
Verstappen started from the pole position and was mostly unchallenged for the first half of the race – only surrendering the lead briefly during the pit crossover period – although Norris was close enough in the last 10 laps of the race to make a reasonable attempt at the victory but was never close enough to legitimately wrest the lead from Verstappen and wound up just over a half-second behind Verstappen at the line.
With the victory, Verstappen pads his lead in the driver’s standings with 161 points to Leclerc’s 113 in second place as Verstappen’s Red Bull teammate, Sergio Perez, drops to third with 101 points.
