McLaren Fastest In First Practice Session For 2024 Dutch Grand Prix
Typical North Sea windy seaside weather greeted Formula One drivers in Zandvoort on return from their break as they prepared for this weekend’s 2024 Dutch Grand Prix and the initially blustery conditions led to several drivers making mistakes and spinning or running wide – including some of the race win contenders – but no one crashed.
McLaren’s Lando Norris eventually wound with the fastest time of the session once the track dried out enough for soft tires and that coincides with McLaren bringing their first performance upgrade to the car since the 2024 Miami Grand Prix in May.
Norris was 0.201 seconds faster than Red Bull’s Max Verstappen, who, in turn, was ahead of Mercedes’ seven-time Formula 1 world champion, Lewis Hamilton, 0.684secs off the pace [though his fastest lap time was affected by traffic].
